Chief (Dr.) Willie Obiano is the 4th Governor of Anambra State. Sworn in on March 17, 2014 after a resounding victory at the polls on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Obiano is a distinguished banker and technocrat. Governor Obiano is also known as a proven public policy leader on economic development, financial accountability and human resource development in Anambra State and Nigeria.

Between 1991 and 2002, he headed many key Groups and Divisions, at one point or another.
As an Executive Director of the Mega Fidelity Bank (and No. 2 man), Chief Obiano was in charge
of Business Banking (Corporate Banking, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Treasury, (Naira and
Foreign Exchange, Oil & Gas, Telecom & Food and Beverages, Transport and Aviation).
All the Regional Managers of the bank reported through him to the MD/CEO.
Over the course of his successful career in Texaco and Fidelity Bank, Chief (Dr.) Willie Obiano has
attended numerous banking courses at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University,
Stanford University, Lagos Business School, CitiBank, New York, Natwest, London, FIM Bank,
Chief Obiano was the John F. Kennedy Essay Winner 1974 at Christ the King College,
Onitsha (CKC). He holds a national Merit Certificate for outstanding service during his NYSC (National
Youth Service Corps) in Benue State, Nigeria in the 1979/80 Service Year. He holds a B.Sc. Second Class Upper in Accounting from University of Lagos (1979) and an MBA in Marketing also from the same university 1993. He is a Fellow (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). USAfrica Best of Africa Distinguished Banker Of The Year 2012 Award Patron, Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of (Lagos Mainland) President, AMP8 (Advance Management Programme) of Lagos Business School for Ten years running.
